Hou-Feng Zheng is a Professor at Soochow University and a Chief Physician at the second affiliated hospital of Soochow University. He received MD in 2004 and PhD in 2010. He finished postdoc training in human genetics in McGill University in 2015. He worked as a Principal Investigator at Westlake University from 2017-2024.
He initiated the Westlake BioBank for Chinese (WBBC) project in 2017, and this project has been updated to China Precision BioBank (CPBB) since 2025. His main expertise is to develop and apply integrative methodologies to analyze massive large-scale biomedical datasets, bridging genomics, epidemiology, and clinical informatics.
Research Interests
Population/Statistical Genetics and Genomics: He is dedicated to providing a comprehensive Chinese Haplotype Reference with samples across China to include the diversity of the Chinese population.
Aging-related musculoskeletal system traits: He studies the genetic factors and environmental factors for complex traits such as bone mineral density, vitamin D, thyroid hormone, IGF1, BMI, leptin, and complex diseases such as osteoporosis, sarcopenia and fracture in the elderly.
